Thrissur: Three persons were arrested today in connection with the recent death of a 52-year-old man who was allegedly beaten up by the trio when he questioned them for harassing his daughter in Chavakkad near Thrissur.
According to police, there was a minor scuffle between V Ramesh and the trio, following which he fell unconscious and died at a hospital due to cardiac arrest on Wednesday night.
The accused, all neighbours of Mr Ramesh, had been absconding since the incident and they were taken into custody by a special team from Malappuram, Chavakkad Circle Inspector AJ Johnson said.
He said the arrested, hailing from Palayoor near Thrissur, had allegedly made some remarks when Mr Ramesh was riding a bike along with his son and daughter, which led to the scuffle.
The officer also said Mr Ramesh was a heart patient and had been taking medicines for the last 19 years.
The post mortem report also said that coronary artery disease was the cause of the death, he said.
Indian Penal Code 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) had been slapped against the accused, the officer added.
