Thiruvananthapuram: Seven people have been arrested for allegedly raping a minor Dalit student for nearly two months in Attingal in Kerala, just 32 kilometres from capital Thiruvananthapuram.
The accused, aged between 19 and 32, have been sent to judicial custody. A search is on for the main accused and some others, who are absconding, police said.
The girl, a student of Class 10, had been living with her mentally unstable mother and cousin and worked as a cinematic dancer to support her family.
The accused who were the friends of the girl's cousin, had first filmed raping her and continued to blackmailed her, forcing her to have sex with other men. The rapes took place in February and March.
The girl in her statement to police has said that the accused used to tie her up and beat her, forcibly make her consume liquor and take drugs. "She had burn marks in her private parts and was abused repeatedly," police said.
She has now been put in protective care.
