The girl went missing yesterday after she left for school in the morning.
Kollam, Kerala:
A seven-year-old was murdered after being raped allegedly by a relative in Kerala's Kollam. The girl's body was found in a rubber estate in Kulathupuzha, about 60 km from state capital Thiruvananthapuram.
The girl went missing yesterday after she left for her tuition class in the morning. Her parents got worried when she didn't return home. They reported the matter to the police who launched a search operation and found her body, which was sent for post-mortem.
According to the police, the girl's mother had asked Rajesh to take her to the tuition centre. The police have scanned the CCTV camera footage from near a junction where the child was last seen with Rajesh. They took Rajesh into custody and during interrogation, he confessed to raping the girl and strangling her to death, the police said.
Rajesh had abandoned his wife and two children earlier, said a senior police officer. Further investigation is underway, he added.
