Kollam: A 90-year-old cancer survivor was sexually assaulted by her neighbor in Kerala's Kollam last week, the police said today.
Based on her complaint, the police have filed a case accusing the 63-year-old attacker of unnatural sex.
"A suspect in his 60s has been taken into custody and the details are being investigated. Though she does not specify rape, we are waiting for the medical reports," a senior police officer in Kollam, Ajitha Begum, told NDTV.
The accused man was allegedly armed with a knife and attacked the woman at night.
She later told her relatives, but did not go to the police until Wednesday morning.
The woman was quoted by the IANS news agency as saying: "The accused entered my house through the back door. This can be done only by someone who knows the house well. I pleaded with him not to harm me but he did not listen... I want the police to arrest him."
