Thiruvananthapuram:
In Kerala, the actress who was kidnapped and then molested while travelling to Kochi for work, has spoken for the first time on her case. After the February assault, six people were arrested including a driver she had sacked who is the main accused.
Yesterday, the actress said she is contemplating suing a Malayalam actor after he alleged that she was friends with her jailed driver who is known as Pulsar Suni.
In an interview to a local TV channel on Monday night, actor Dileep, who uses just one name, appeared to suggest that the actress should have been more cautious about who she befriended.
In a statement to the press yesterday, the actress said, "It's been brought to my knowledge that an actor has said that the accused in this case - Pulsar Suni and I were friends and that one should be careful while choosing friends. This has pained me. If such baseless allegations are made against me, I am even willing take legal action, if required."
The actress also said that she has not spoken earlier about her case because senior police officials advised that "any comment would adversely affect the investigation of the case."
The woman was restrained in a moving car for nearly two hours while a gang of at least four men molested her and also took photos on their cellphones.
Actor Dileep who has acted with the woman in the past last week filed a police complaint against her former driver Pulsar Sani for blackmailing him from prison.
Last week, Malayalam director Nadir Shah alleged that he received a call from a close aide of Pulsar Suni, the prime accused, linking superstar Dileep to the case.
