Kozhikode:
Management students of IIM Kozhikode will be organising the sixth Calicut Mini-Marathon 2015 in Kozhikode on March 1, the theme of which is 'Road Safety'.
The marathon will be organised in association with the Kerala Police and the Angel Foundation, an IIM-K press release said. The Calicut Mini-Marathon is now open for registration.
The marathon features two categories, a 10 km mini-marathon which is a competitive race and a 3 km "Dream Run", a non-competitive run featuring people from all walks of life.
The event launch ceremony was held yesterday in the presence of founder-President of LokSatta Party Dr Jai Prakash Narayan.
Speaking at length about road safety, Dr Ajil Abdulla, from the Angel Foundation most of road fatalities in India are avoidable. Preventing them and enhancing safety measures is the way forward.
IIM-K Director Prof Kulbhooshan Balooni also spoke.
Over the past five years, the marathon has been taking up a unique cause every year and has so far focused on critical issues of women empowerment, rights of differently-abled people, waste management and organ donation.
