Ramesh Chennithala urged the government to stop collecting various taxes from the people till December 31
Thiruvananthapuram:
Congress-led UDF in Kerala today expressed solidarity with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his cabinet colleagues who staged a
dharna in front of the RBI office in Thiruvananthapuram against the restrictions imposed on the cooperative sector banks.
The opposition leaders said lakhs of people, including villagers, are facing hardships due to the Centre's decision against allowing cooperative sector banks to accept deposits and exchange demonetised notes.
"The UDF cannot support any such action which will destroy the cooperative sector in the state," Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and former chief minister, Oommen Chandy, told reporters.
"This policy has to change," they said.
Mr Chennithala also urged the government to stop collecting various taxes from the people till December 31 to ease the hardships being faced due to demonetisation.
