Kozhikode: Kerala Culture Minister K C Joseph yesterday said a "cultural village" will be set up here with the objective of developing art and culture.
If land was made available for the cultural village, the project would be set up without any delay, Joseph said after inaugurating the week-long International Theatre Festival of Kerala here.
Joseph also said the functioning of Sangeeta Nataka Akademy and Chalachithra Academy would be spread to Malabar region and in this connection, a zonal office would be set up.
With the new style art forms establishing their hold at festival platforms, theatre troupes are facing an adverse situation in the financial sector, he said, adding government would consider providing financial assistance to professional and amateur drama troupes, actors and actresses.
