The Dalai Lama today donated Rs.10 lakh to be used for relief and rehabilitation of those affected by the devastating fire at a temple in Kollam, in which over 110 people were killed.
The Nobel laureate Tibetan Buddhist leader made the donation to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund after Sunday's fire at the Puttingal Devi temple in the coastal town of Paravur. Over 350 people have been injured in the fire.
In a statement issued in Thiruvananthapuram this evening, the office of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the Dalai Lama, in a letter, expressed happiness over the way the relief and rehabilitation work was progressing.
