Kozhikode: A 72-metre tall 'Fraternity Tower' is all set to come up in the heart of the city in Kozhikode, a top government official said.
The landmark was proposed to be built on 2.9 acres owned by the Revenue Department near Mananchira maidan in the city,outgoing Kozhikode District Collector P B Salim said.
The height of the proposed tower would be 72 metres, approximately the height of a 17-storeyed building, he said,adding, it will have lift facility and steps to reach the view point, where about 100 persons could be accommodated.
One could view the entire city upto the Arabian sea from the view point in the tower, he said.
The total cost for the tower is estimated to be around Rs 32 crore and the first phase work of the tower is expected to be complete in one year, he said.
The tower will have in the basement, an art gallery, and a museum. A forty-seat mini-theatre and an art exhibitionarea, was among other facilities in the tower, he said.
The foundation laying ceremony in all probablity would be held next month, he said.
