Dileep was arrested on July 10 after many rounds of questioning in Kerala actress molestation case.
Kochi:
Kerala superstar Dileep will continue to be in a jail in Kochi as the High Court has rejected the actor's bail petition saying the police investigation is underway and if granted bail, the actor can tamper with evidence or influence witnesses. The court stated that the crimes alleged against the actor have shocked the conscience of the public.
The lower court had also rejected his bail plea last week on the same grounds after which the actor applied for bail in the High Court. The police have submitted their
case diary before the court to prove the evidence against the actor. The actor's remand period ends on Tuesday and he will be produced before the lower court.
The 48-year-old actor was
arrested on July 10 after many rounds of questioning in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of an actress in February this year. He was booked for rape, criminal conspiracy, wrongful confinement after the actress was forcefully restrained in her vehicle, driven around and sexually assaulted in Kochi.
According to the police report, the superstar was the main conspirator and had in 2013 offered Rs 1.5 crore to Pulsar Suni, the main accused in this case and a driver who she sacked, to attack the actress. The actor had allegedly demanded the assault to be recorded on video and sent along with
nude photographs of the actress.
The actor has
denied any role in the attack. His lawyer told the court that Dileep has been trapped in a conspiracy scripted by "a very fertile imagination."
After he was sent to prison in the molestation case, Dileep was
expelled from the Association of Malayalam Movies Artistes (AMMA).
