Thiruvananthapuram:
Thiruvananthapuram is getting ready to be the first city in India to host a memorial of Yuri Gagarin, the first space traveller.
A bust of Gagarin will be unveiled in the Russian Cultural centre as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of his first space journey. This is in cooperation with Etnomir and Russkiy Mir foundation of Russia.
The closing ceremony of a year-long celebration of Gagarin's first space journey organised by Russian Culture centre will be inaugurated by Minister for Revenue, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan on Wednesday at 4.30 pm.
Russian Consul General in Chennai, Nikolai Listopadov, Cultural Attache Fyodor Rozovskiyi, City Corporation Mayor , K Chandrika, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, director, P S Veera Raghavan will attend.
