Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday said there was no need to order a probe into a letter allegedly written by a state minister to the Congress leadership.

"Please show me the letter, if anyone of you have it. And if you show it, then we will decide on what needs to be done," Mr Chandy said when asked about Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala's alleged letter to the party high command.

In the alleged letter, an urgent overhaul in the state Congress was sought after the ruling United Democratic Front's defeat in last month's civic polls.

"What letter are you talking about? He (Chennithala) has already denied ever writing such a letter. So where's the question of a probe?" Mr Chandy said.

When it was pointed out that all TV channels had shown the alleged letter, the chief minister said: "I rarely watch TV. Do you think and believe all what comes on it (TV news channels) is true?"

As for state Congress president VM Sudheeran's demand for a probe, Mr Chandy said, "I am not going to jump into a probe on a thing that I have not seen."

The Congress high command in Delhi denied receiving any such letter.
