Kottayam: In an apparent dig at Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, whose purported letter to Congress high command had created a controversy, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said it was the people who evaluate the performance of a government and not an individual.
"It is the people who judge the functioning of a government. If an individual evaluates the government's performance at his personal level, that is not proper", Mr Chandy told reporters in Kottayam.
Mr Chandy was responding to the controversy over the recent letter purportedly written by Mr Chennithala to the Congress high command pointing to the "poor" performance of the government and party during the civic polls and BJP's emergence as a force in the state.
"I have not seen the purported letter sent by Home minister. Chennithala has also denied having sent such a letter. Just because television channels have reported about the contents of the letter, can an inquiry be ordered? he asked.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who is visiting the state on December 30 will meet leaders of the coalition partners also, Mr Chandy said.
She will also be participating in the silver jubilee celebrations of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology at Pambady.
