Left-led Coalition In Kerala Scores Massive Win
The ruling Left-led coalition in Kerala today scooped up a big win in local body polls seen by all parties as a litmus test ahead of assembly elections in the state next year.

The LDF is also leading in 10 of 14 district panchayats and 108 of 152 block panchayats, according to State Election Commission figures The UDF is ahead in four district panchayats.

"Kerala has strongly rebuffed the negative campaign by the Congress-led UDF and the BJP of levelling baseless allegations against the LDF government and its leadership, backed by sections of the rightwing media and the unscrupulous use of central agencies by the BJP at the Centre," he tweeted.

LDF Crosssed Majority Mark In Thiruvananthapuram Corporation

In the key Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, the LDF has gained a sizeable lead, crossing the majority mark of 51, even as counting is still underway for the 100 wards.  In 2015, the LDF had won 42 wards and the BJP alliance had pushed the UDF to the third position after winning 34 seats. UDF has again been pushed to a third this time as well.

BJP workers celebrated in Thiruvananthapuram, where counting is on. BJP workers were seen with lotus flowers in their hands and raising slogans praising the party. The party is seeking to gain a foothold in the state ahead of the state election.

The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation seat is seeing a close triangular fight with the ruling LDF leading in 20 of 100 wards. The BJP-led NDA is leading in 13 and the Congress-led UDF in four.
