A new video of a fire at a temple in Kerala's Kollam captures the moment the fireworks turned into a disaster
The explosion that ricocheted through a Kerala temple and the flames that swept through the area while thousands of devotees were gathered has been recorded on a video that shows the moment a large fireworks display turned into a disaster.
The new video shows the boom that was so powerful it would blow off the roof of a building at the temple in the coastal district of Kollam.
More than 100 people were killed and 1,000 injured in the moments that followed.

The fireworks display was held by temple officials despite government officials refusing permission. The Kerala
High Court has excoriated the government and the police for dereliction of duty, asking why neither stopped the annual ritual when it was obvious that a huge quantity of explosives had been collected at the Puttingal Devi temple.
13 people have been arrested on charges including attempted murder. Among them is a group of temple officials.
