Meeting calls for coordinated effort to implement Central funds

Thiruvananthapuram: A meeting of the people's representatives in the capital city has called for a coordinated effort for implementing centrally-funded projects.  The meeting held at the Government Guest House in Thiruvananthapura, wanted the government to mobilise the MP, MLA and Local self-government funds to effectively implement the development projects.

People's representatives said priority should be given to drinking water supply, health care, waste management, traditional industry and infrastructure. Other issues which required urgent attention were the development of Karamana-Kaliyikkavila road and Kazhakoottam bypass. The meeting stressed the need for implementing the monorail project to ease the traffic congestion in the city.

Additional Chief Secretary T Balakrishnan conducted a Powerpoint presentation on the project Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system being planned by INKEL and London-based company Ultra.

Inaugurating the meeting, Transport and Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar said the suggestions of the people's representatives would be submitted to the Chief Minister.
