Kozhikode: Kerala Tourism Minister AC Moideen on Saturday said his recent statement on the impact of liquor policy of the government had been distorted by a section of the media.
Media had highlighted only one issue among many cited by him as the causes of the present declining scenario in tourism sector in Kerala, Mr Moideen told reporters in Kozhikode.
"My statement was that the liquor policy is just one of the reasons for the losses in the tourism industry... It was about the setbacks on tourism sector which was twisted by the media," he said.
"I had cited a report prepared and submitted to the government pointing out many causes, including the liquor policy, for the setback suffered by the sector. Tourism industry is facing several issues apart from those due to UDF's liquor policy," he added.
Mr Moideen said the tourism department would clarify its stand when discussions come up in the LDF over liquor policy.
