A 69-year-old nun was found dead in her room at a convent in Kerala this morning.
Sister Amala was found dead by other nuns at the Carmel Convent in Pala near Kottayam. The nuns had gone to look for her on noticing that she had missed the morning mass, the police said.
Blood was found around the body and there was a wound on the nun's forehead. The police say they are not ruling out murder.
"It is not a normal death. It was caused by a deep head injury," said district police chief Sateesh Bino.
The police suspect theft.
The doors of her room were not locked from inside, say the police.
The nun had been unwell for the past few days.
Senior Kottayam police officers visited the place with the dog squad and forensic experts this morning.
