Kochi: The incident took place around 12.30 pm on Saturday. According to classmates, the girl was in the class till noon.
Dhanya was immediately rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
The case has been registered and the statements of other hostel inmates were being taken to ascertain if there was any other reason for the extreme step taken by her.
A nursing student in Kochi allegedly committed suicide after jumping off the seventh floor of the hospital building on Saturday.
The girl was identified as Dhanya David - a third year nursing student at the Lisie School of Nursing, Ernakulam. She was reportedly upset as she was lagging behind in her assignments and her exams were due in two weeks.
An apology note to her parents - "sorry papa and mummy" - was found written on her palm, police said.
