The school bus turned on its side in Kolkata's Rajarhat area.
Eighteen students of a school in Kolkata's Rajarhat area were injured when their school bus turned and fell on its side after being rammed by a truck carrying construction material.
The accident took place at 8:10 am at the Akankhsha crossing when the bus of the New Town Public School was ferrying students for classes.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck rammed the bus at a turning. The bus driver lost control and the bus turned on its side. Locals broke the windshield glass and rescued the students. It took nearly half an hour to get all of them out.
The truck driver and his assistant are on the run. All the students were rushed to local private hospitals in Salt Lake. Around four of them were released after first aid.
The condition of the other students and the bus driver is stable.
