Kolkata:
Nine people were injured today when an escalator malfunctioned at a metro station in Kolkata.
The incident occurred around 8:33pm at Girish Park metro station when the escalator that was going up suddenly started moving downwards.
Three people with head and leg injuries were rushed to the hospital. Six other injured were given first aid at the station.
Metro Railway General Manager AK Kapoor has ordered a high-level probe into the incident and asked for a report within two days.
