Kolkata: There was little headway in the probe into the mysterious death of 17-year-old Abesh Dasgupta even as Kolkata Police on Friday questioned several persons in connection with the case.
According to a senior officer of Kolkata Police, Abesh's friends, security guards, drivers and other inhabitants of the Sunny Park complex in the upscale Ballygunge area were questioned.
"The investigation is not yet over. We are interrogating people and are verifying their versions over and over again," he said, adding that some of the people were summoned to the Kolkata Police headquarter in Lalbazar.
A source said that sleuths probing the case were trying to construct the links which were "still missing" and hence the interrogations were on.
Enquired about the forensic reports of the phones, the officer said that the tests were yet to be over and the results could be "crucial".
Earlier in the day, Abesh's mother Rimjhim Dasgupta met Mamata Banerjee seeking justice and said the Chief Minister assured her of help.
"The Chief Minister told us to keep faith on her. She assured us that truth will come out. She said culprits will be traced," Abesh's mother told reporters after the meeting.
Mrs Dasgupta, who called on the Chief Minister along with other family members, said, "I told her that many questions still remained unanswered."
Mrs Dasgupta, who met Kolkata Police Joint Commissioner (crime) Visal Garg on Thursday, said, "Garg told me that the case is still on. Many investigations are yet to be completed. He called me to give update on the CCTV footage."
She maintained the CCTV footage did not have entire sequence of the events of that day.
Garg ruled out the murder theory on Thursday in the case and said the 17-year-old boy died due to injuries he met after falling from a small wall in the lawn of the Sunny Park residential complex on July 23.
According to Garg, going by the CCTV footages at the complex, circumstantial evidences and statements of several witnesses including those present at the birthday celebration, security guards and others, sleuths were of the opinion that there was no "conspiracy" behind Abesh's death.
Abesh's family members, however, refused to accept the "no conspiracy" theory behind his death and repeated claims that it was a case of murder.
