Kolkata: An alert metro train driver prevented a 71-year-old man from committing suicide, officials said.
As soon as the train entered Jatin Das Park station at around 7.00 pm, septuagenarian SS Mukherjee jumped from the platform on to the tracks.
The alert driver immediately applied emergency brakes and brought the train to a halt, Metro DGM Protyush Ghosh said.
Mr Mukherjee has been admitted to SSKM Hospital with injuries on head and shoulder.
