Kolkata: A nine-year-old boy has died after allegedly being beaten by his teacher at a school in West Bengal's South 24 Paraganas on Wednesday.
The Class III student, Bapi Joardar, was allegedly assaulted by his teacher after he was involved in a quarrel with another student, police sources said today. They added that the teacher had repeatedly banged the child's head against a wall, causing him grievous injuries.
The injured student was admitted to a hospital from where he was referred to the National Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata where he died last night, sources said.
The teacher, who is in her early thirties and was with the school for about 4 years, was arrested today, sources added. The school has been closed since the tragic accident.
