Customs officials have seized over 4 kilograms of gold valued at over Rs One crore from two passengers from Dubai on separate international flights at the NSC Bose International Airport here, officials said today.
Both the passengers have been arrested, officials said.
Mazhar Alam, a resident of central Kolkata, was intercepted on his arrival by Emirates flight from Dubai yesterday and 3 kilograms of gold bar valued at Rs 76.78 lakh, concealed in an ironing machine, was recovered from him, they said.
In another case, Jaffer Sadique of Kasaragod in Kerala was intercepted on his arrival from Dubai by Emirates flight today and 1.280 kg of gold in wire form, valued at Rs 33 lakh, was recovered from his trolley bag, the officials said.
