Kolkata: The driver and conductor of a private bus were arrested for allegedly molesting a woman passenger near the Rajbhavan in Kolkata, a protected zone of the city, a Police official said on Sunday.
Driver Mohammed Adak and conductor Gopal Chakraborty were arrested for their alleged involvement in the molestation of the 20-year-old when she and her father were getting down from the near-empty bus at Government Place East at around 9 pm on Sunday, police said.
"The woman raised an alarm hearing which policemen posted at the Raj Bhavan gate rushed to the spot. They stopped the bus, caught the driver and the conductor and handed them over to us," Hare Street Police Station Officer-in-charge Mahadeb Chakraborty said.
The woman, a resident of Uttarpara, had come to visit a relative in the city along with her father and was heading to Howrah to catch a train to return home.
