Kolkata:
An eight-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her 16-year-old neighbour at her house in West Bengal on Tuesday, the police have said.
The incident took place at Gaighata in North 24 Parganas district when the girl's parents were away.
When they returned home, they found the girl in critical condition. The minor was rushed to a local hospital and later shifted to Kolkata. Her medical reports have confirmed that she was raped.
The girl's parents filed a police complaint yesterday. The alleged rapist is still absconding.
