Kolkata: A middle-aged housewife was allegedly gang-raped in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district when she tried to prevent a group of miscreants from looting the house, police said on Friday.
The incident took place in South 24 Parganas' Kultali town on Thursday evening.
"The woman was in the house with her six-month-old daughter when the miscreants entered the house, probably with the motive of looting. When the woman tried to resist them, they attacked and gang-raped her," a police officer said.
The survivor has been admitted to the hospital after the incident, police said.
"The condition of the woman is serious. However, the kid is unharmed. We are looking for the miscreants. No one has been arrested yet," the police officer added.
