Howrah mayor falls sick after being gheraoed for hours

Howrah: The mayor of Howrah city fell sick on Thursday after being gheraoed for hours by opposition Trinamool Congress workers demanding uninterrupted drinking water supply to all parts of the city.

Mayor of Howrah Municipal Corporation Mamata Jaiswal was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata when she fell sick at 8 pm after being gheraoed for hours, the police said.

Trinamool Congress workers had gheraoed her demanding uninterrupted supply of drinking water to all parts of the city as people living in several pockets in the city have been facing acute drinking water crisis, sources said.
