In Kolkata, allegation of rape leads to investigation on drugs at parties

Kolkata: A radio jockey (RJ) working with a city FM channel  had complained to the police that she was raped at a party hosted by an industrialist's son. However, a local TV channel has  said that the woman later told its reporter that she had not been raped, and had filed the case because the entrepreneur's son had cheated her. However, because her complaint with the police, filed on June 10, stated rape, the investigation will explore sexual assault.

Police sources say that the man in question is reportedly a habitual drug user and is known to serve drugs at his parties. They are trying to gather evidence to prove this.

"The victim in her complaint alleged that she was raped by a person who happens to be the son of an industrialist. The alleged offender is also suspected to be involved in drug peddling," Joint Commissioner (Crime) PK Ghosh told media persons.
