Kolkata: At least 40 persons were injured, some of them seriously, when a bus overturned and dashed against a private car on Diamond Harbour Road at Khidderpore tonight, police said.
The injured, including three occupants of the car, were admitted to state-run SSKM Hospital and a local nursing home, police said.
Local people set up a road blockade in protest against police "negligence" to regulate road traffic in the area.
The bus came from Howrah and was on its way to Akra in South 24 Parganas district in the south-west fringes of the city. Senior police officers later persuaded the protestors to lift the blockade.
