Kolkata: One person was killed allegedly in firing in Kolkata's Lake Town area today. The incident happened at Shyamnagar Harijan Pally. The police claimed the firing was the result of a clash between criminal gangs fighting over turf.
The victim has been identified as Tuna Hati. His body was found in a canal near the Lake Town police station.
According to the police, a few miscreants had attacked the sister of Hati's gang leader early this morning. When a young boy intervened, he was shot in the leg, said the police.
Local women later gheraoed the police station to protest against the incident.
Senior police officers are present at the spot and investigations are underway.
