Barasat, West Bengal: A steel trunk containing Rs 1.15 crore was found lying on the road in upscale Salt Lake area of Kolkata.
The trunk, measuring 36 inch by 18 inch, seen lying on a road near a state government office building by a rickshaw puller yesterday morning, Bidhannagar commisionerate police said today.
In the meantime, Axis Bank claimed the money and the trunk.
Police handed over both to the bank authorities after verification.
The rickshaw puller reported it to the local police, who reached the spot and on opening it found the huge amount of cash.
The trunk containing the cash had fallen off the high security van while being transported by the bank, the police said, adding an inquiry into the incident was on.
