Kolkata:
A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by five youths inside a truck in Babughat-Khidderpore area in Kolkata, police said today.
The incident took place last night when the victim, a resident of Kulgachia area of neighbouring Howrah district, took a taxi from the area under Watgunge police station around 9 PM last night.
The driver took the taxi to a deserted spot in Babughat area where a lorry with four youths inside was waiting. The girl was forcibly pulled inside the lorry and was allegedly gang-raped.
Later the victim, who works with a firm in Khidderpore, was dumped in Babughat area itself.
She herself contacted her mother and was later admitted to Howrah state general hospital, where doctors said her condition was serious.
"We have started investigation into the case but none has been arrested yet," Joint Commissioner Police (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh said.
