Kolkata: A major fire broke out in the showroom of a multinational electronics company on the fourth floor of a commercial building in Ultadanga in north-east Kolkata this evening.
Ten fire engines were rushed to the spot and it took them nearly 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control. The incident caused traffic snarls in the area.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage were yet to be ascertained.
Just yesterday, five people died after a major fire broke out on the fourth floor of Mumbai's Mantralaya or secretariat, bringing into focus major lapses into safety.
