Mamata Banerjee Warns Trinamool Congress Workers Against Dissent, Graft

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked party leaders in Nadia district to work together.

Kolkata: Cautioning party workers to stay away from infighting and corruption, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday asked party leaders in Nadia district to work together and ensure that all Assembly seats in the district are won by TMC in the next year's state poll.

Addressing party leaders, MPs and MLAs of Nadia district, Trinamool Congress supremo Ms Banerjee referred to former state minister Madan Mitra and said she "still doesn't believe that Madan has committed any wrong."

"Mamata Banerjee told us to stay away from infighting and put up a united face. She said there are allegations of internal feud in the party following differences among party leaders which were posing a threat to various development work," a TMC leader said on condition of anonymity.

"Mamata di also told us to stay away from those elements who have a corrupt image. Didi told us not to fight among ourselves, rather fight against canards that opposition is spreading against TMC," he said.

Ms Banerjee also asked them to expedite development programmes as the party proposes to make development agenda a major tool for Assembly polls slated to be held next year.

In her fourth district-level evaluation meeting with the leaders of Nadia district, Ms Banerjee underscored the need for highlighting development work undertaken by the government and not to be provoked by opposition parties before the approaching election.

Ahead of next year's Assembly election, Ms Banerjee is conducting evaluation meeting in districts every week.
