Kolkata:
A "depressed" passenger aboard a private flight bound for Kolkata told the crewmembers on Friday to open the plane's door mid-air so that he could commit suicide, airport sources said.
Bijay Kumar (49) told the crewmembers of the Jet Airways flight to open the door while it was flying from Silchar to Kolkata as he wanted to commit suicide, the sources said.
The crewmembers persuaded him not to take any drastic step and informed the NSC Bose International Airport about the matter.
As soon as the flight landed here, Kumar was detained by the police.
Police sources said preliminary interrogation had revealed that Kumar was suffering from depression.
