Kolkata:
A paper carton manufacturing factory was gutted in Kolkata on Sunday in a blaze which spread to nearby shanties, officials said. No casualty was reported.
The fire broke out around 12 noon in Behala. Twelve fire engines fought the blaze, Mayor Sovon Chatterjee said.
People living in shanties near the factory were evacuated as the fire spread.
Kolkata witnessed two major fire tragedies in the past two years.
Ninety-four people died in a fire at AMRI Hospital on December 9 2011. On March 23, 2010, a blaze in the 150-year-old Stephens Court building killed 24 people.
