Howrah, West Bengal: A woman on Saturday drank phenyl in place of water at a government hospital in Howrah district, officials said.
32-year-old Kajal Ghosal had gone for an ultrasonography test at Bally Kedarnath Arogya Bhavan when a doctor asked her to drink some water kept in a bottle nearby. When she gulped down the liquid she realised it was phenyl, they said, adding, Ghosal felt sick soon after and is now admitted at the same hospital. Her condition is, however, stated to be out of danger.
Although no police complaint had been lodged but after the patients protested at the hospital, police had to rush to control the crowd.
