Kolkata:
Kabir Suman, an MP from Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, has parodied a Rabindranath Tagore song as a biting comment on the chief minister. Mr Suman's song focuses on the arrest of a farmer who asked the chief minister Ms Banerjee a tough question at a rally last week. Mr Suman has been estranged from his party.
On his
website, he writes, "I wrote the words, did the voice and music tracks, edited and mixed them on 13 August 2012. I've used the melody of a Rabindra song. My apologies to Rabindranath."
Here is a translation of the MP's work:
"
Somehow or the other I will catch Shiladitya red handed
Somehow or the other I will put him in jail
He will become my servant forever
I will do it I will do it I will do it
All protestors are definitely all Maoists
I will stop all protests
I will cut the throat of all protest
Where are the voices of protest?
Rabindranath, please forgive me
You know why I am parodying your song
It has beautifully matched my rhyme
It's a huge success"
