Kolkata:
Seven policemen were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Sunday, police said.
Another policeman in the vehicle is battling for his life in hospital following the accident occurred at Brahmapur near Mynaguri town, about 635 km from Kolkata.
All the police personnel were from Cooch Behar district and they were going to Malda district on panchayat election duty, a police officer said.
The police said they would probe what caused the accident, but eye-witnesses said both the vehicles that crashed into each other were moving at high speed.
The truck driver fled after the incident.
