Two persons including the son of a Trinamool Congress leader were on Sunday arrested for allegedly assaulting a policeman in the city.
The incident happened early in the morning in the city's Phoolbagan area when constable Krishna Deb tried to stop an over-speeding car.
According to the complaint filed by Deb, two persons alighted from the car and abused and assaulted him.
On the basis of his complaint, the duo - Debarshi Bhattacharyya, the son of former Trinamool councillor Sushanta Bhattacharya and Chandrakant Singh - were arrested.
Both Bhattacharya and Singh were subsequently released on bail.
