Kolkata: A second-year student of Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata was allegedly molested and beaten up on the campus by seven students, police said.
The students who allegedly assaulted the woman on July 29, belonged to a rival student union, police said.
The woman, in her second year of MA, was rescued by her friends and a police complaint was filed.
Vice Chancellor Sabyasachi Basu Rai Chaudhuri said the woman did not file a complaint with the university.
"Police officials visited the campus and asked for our cooperation in the investigation. We have assured support," Mr Chaudhuri said.
