Kolkata: A suspected terrorist was arrested from West Bengal's Burdwan district and is being interrogated, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the 25-year-old man was nabbed on Monday from a train at Burdwan railway station while he was on his way to Labhpur in Birbhum district.

The suspect was interrogated by the state police and the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Monday.

He was later brought to the headquarters of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Kolkata for further interrogation.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) which in March arrested an engineering student from the district, suspected to be an Islamic State (IS) facilitator, has been informed about the arrest.

An accidental blast at a house in Khagragarh in Burdwan district in October 2014 led to the NIA busting a terror module of Bangladeshi militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh.
