Kolkata:
Two men, including the prime suspect, have been arrested in an alleged gang-rape of a minor in West Bengal's North 24-Parganas district, police said today.
The 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by seven locals on Friday in Humayunpur in Madhyamgram town.
"Two have been arrested so far and they will be thoroughly interrogated," Madhyamgram Sub-Divisional Police officer (SDPO) Subir Chatterjee told IANS.
A complaint was filed by the victim's father on October 26 at the Madhyamgram police station.
Mr Chatterjee denied reports that the girl had tried to commit suicide due to severe trauma.
Madhyamgram is three km from Kamduni, where a college student was gang-raped and murdered on June 7. The incident created a political furore in the state.
