Two arrested for assaulting Kolkata policeman

Kolkata: Two persons were arrested yesterday for allegedly assaulting a police officer on duty when he tried to stop them from fighting, police said.

Sub-inspector Subhojit Ghosh had gone to Ezra Street to stop the scuffle between brothers Avishek Singh and Amritesh Singh when they assaulted the cop and broke one of his teeth.

Mr Ghosh underwent treatment at a hospital after which he was released.

The incident happened on Saturday evening.
