Kolkata: Two people were arrested for allegedly molesting a woman inside a train of the Kolkata Metro Railway, an official said today.
"Sheshadri Chakraborty and Rhyten Sen were arrested on Monday night from Maidan station and booked for molestation after a complaint was filed by the victim," said Metro Railway deputy general manager Protyush Ghosh.
The duo was handed to Maidan police which booked them.
This is the second such instance of molestation in a Metro train within seven days.
Last Tuesday, two people, including a college student, were arrested from Dum Dum station for molesting the daughter-in-law of a senior Metro official.
Earlier this year, Kolkata Metro raised an all-women special task force to protect women against harassment in the station premises.
In a related incident, a student of the city's Rabindra Bharati University has lodged a police complaint against several men, complaining she was stalked and molested by them.
"The victim in her complaint has alleged that she was stalked and molested by a group of men outside the University campus on Monday night. We have not made any arrests so far," said an officer of Sinthi police station where the complaint was made.
