Vital files missing after theft in Kolkata's famed Visva-Bharati university

Kolkata: Some important documents and hard disks were stolen from the Visva-Bharati University premises in West Bengal's Birbhum district, police said Saturday. The varsity was founded by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

The theft took place late Friday night from the high-security zone of the university.

"The university filed a complaint Saturday that some important documents including hard disks containing vital information were stolen from the university premises," a police officer said.

"We are probing the matter and also looking into how the theft took place in spite the place being a high security zone with the university deploying its own security personnel," the officer added.

No arrest has been made so far.
