Lemon is an incredible ingredient that has long been in use in natural beauty remedies, particularly for skincare. The fruit is of course a great source of vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant that works towards fighting free radicals, visible signs of ageing and in boosting collagen production. Collagen is the major structural component of the skin that gives it strength and flexibility. Moreover, lemon also comes packed with antimicrobial, detanning and cleansing properties that can help you in keeping your skin beautiful.

Wondering how to include lemon in your skincare ritual? We list down three easy ways you can do so:

1. To prevent acne

Because of its acidic nature and anti-microbial properties, lemon is said to work wonders in fighting skin breakouts like acne, pimples and blackheads by cleaning dirt and oil from deep within. It further helps in tightening the skin pores to give you a smooth skin.

Mix 2 parts lemon juice with 3 parts water, and with the help of a cotton dab, apply it as a cleanser on the face and neck. Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash it off with cold water.

3. To get rid of puffy eyes

Puffy eyes are dreadful because they make the skin look tired and lifeless. Other than getting good amount of sleep, you can also resort to lemon to improve the condition. Mix one tablespoon of lemon juice with two tablespoons of tomato juice and apply it around the eyes. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash with cold water.

While using lemon juice, make sure to always dilute it in water. Do a patch test first to check sensitivity. If you experience extreme skin irritation, then avoid using it. It is not recommended for sensitive skin.
